The abduction in Nigeria has left many families devastated. In 2021, the Birnin Yauri abduction happened. After a mass release of some of the abductees, many people said all 89 of them had been released. But 11 families knew this was not true.
One year ago today, with support from the International Women’s Media Foundation, we premiered the documentary on the #BirninYauriGirls, to document the lives of the 11 girls and their families on what it took to have them back years after their abduction.
